Accessible Suite

Please note that our Accessible Suite can only be booked by telephone, so we can best arrange to meet your individual requirements.

Our guest accommodation includes a dedicated room ‘accessible to all’. It is situated to the back of the house, a direct drive in from the road with designated parking to the ramped access via channel ramps (unsuitable for Low ground clearance wheelchairs). Wheelchair width is 90cm, with various slopes.

The Accessible Suite is a ground floor unit that has the usual high quality expected of a 5* bed and breakfast and has been designed for both the able bodied and the physically challenged. It is located in a quiet corner of the hotel grounds with designated car parking and ramps situated 50 feet from the hotel with lighting all the way and wheelchair access to the hotel, lounge and breakfast room via the rear entrance.

This room has been specifically designed foa wide range of physical challenges, as you can see in the pictures. We can remove furniture and equipment to suit your individual needs. Please advise us of any concerns or specific requests on booking. Special diets can be catered for and the Accessible Suite has table and chairs for room service with prior notification.

If the fire alarms go off you will be immediately assisted as it is possible that you may be advised to stay in your bedroom. Please acquaint yourselves with the facilities and fire exits.

The hotel has a reasonable mobile telephone signal.

For the visually impaired we can clear print menus and guest notices as well as a ground plan of the hotel on request or read them for you. For check in on arrival please telephone and we will assist with registration and help with luggage. If you have a registered Guide/Assistance dog, which we welcome, please advise when making your booking and advise us of any requirements your animal may have.

The Disability Suire has hot drink facilities with larger handled mugs, quality courtesy products, 32’’ Flat screen TV/ DVD, a 6ft double zip link bed that divides into twin beds; pillows and bedding are allergy free. There is a hoist which will take up to 270 lbs, please bring your own slings. There is an en suite / wet room style shower with grab rails (no bath), shower chair, toilet with lift down grab rails on both sides and grab rails either side of the sink.

We have a ground floor room with private lounge which is not wheelchair accessible but suitable for those with limited mobility who do not require a wheelchair.

Main hotel

Axminster is on the A358.The railway station and bus stop is 7 minutes walk away. The 885 bus stop to Seaton is 1 minute walk uphill. Exeter airport is 20 minutes drive away.

Taxis: Paynes - 01297 35895 or Axminster - 01297 34000. Prior arrangement is suggested.

We have gated off road parking, lit at night. Additional free on-road parking is available on Musbury Rd.

For arrivals between 12am and 4pm and after 8pm please telephone in advance to make sure your room is ready.

Access to the front of the house is through 2 Wrought Iron gates to the parking area, with 3 shallow steps to the entrance.

The front door is 115cm 2 leaf solid wood, the inside doors are 115cm partial glass and wood 2 leaf.

The Hall floor is wood with 2 runners, reception desk and chair, with central and wall lighting.

The Lounge door to the right is 75cm then 75cm wood floor with large rugs and honesty bar, easy chairs with arms and honesty bar. Lights are central chandelier / wall / table and bay window with natural light.

The Dining room door to the left is 80cm.The floor is oak with rugs with 6 tables and 15 chairs, lights are central / wall and a bay window with natural light.

Stairs are a continuous flight of 14 stairs of 18cm height and 25cm depth, width of 85 cm then a half landing and another three steps to the 1 ^st floor and the same again to the 2^nd Floor.

All Staircases are well lit and have good short pile Axminster carpet. We do not have a lift.

All upstairs bedrooms have:- Carpet, 4ft 5ft or 6ft beds with duvets, either feather or non allergic blankets are available. Bedside tables, bedside lights, radio alarm clocks. TV, some with DVDs, tea and coffee making facilities dressing tables with lights and full-length mirrors. Wardrobes with wooden hanger’s, hairdryers, curling tongs and hair straightners.
